Divine Promises in the Time of Fear

There are many reassuring promises of God throughout the Bible, throughout the ages, and different personalities, and in various situations.  Here we recall some of them, to meditate on and repeat in your heart in the time of fear, and lift your eyes to the Lord, who dispels all your fears, and shout praises saying:  “Whom shall I fear?”

Afraid of God and Judgment
« But now, thus says the LORD, who created you, O Jacob,
      And He who formed you, O Israel:
      “ Fear not, for I have redeemed you;
      I have called you by your name;
      You are Mine. »(Isaiah 43: 1).

 « For you did not receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption by whom we cry out, “Abba, Father.”»(Romans 8: 15).

 

Fear of People
« I, even I, am He who comforts you.
      Who are you that you should be afraid
      Of a man who will die,
      And of the son of a man who will be made like grass? » (Isaiah 51: 12).

« The LORD is on my side;
         I will not fear.
         What can man do to me?» (Psalm 118: 6).

« So we may boldly say:
      “ The LORD is my helper;
      I will not fear.
      What can man do to me?» (Hebrews 13: 6).

 « Do not be afraid of them; for the LORD your God is with you, who brought you up from the land of Egypt» (Deuteronomy 20: 1).


 
Fear of the Devil
« That through death He might destroy him who had the power of death, that is, the devil and release those who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage» (Hebrews 2: 14, 15).

« Though an army may encamp against me,
         My heart shall not fear; » (Psalm 27: 3).

« Preserve my life from fear of the enemy. » (Psalm 64: 1)

 

Fear of Death
« Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
         I will fear no evil;
         For You are with me; » (Psalm 23: 4).

«Those who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage» (Hebrews 2: 15).

 

Fear of Need
« Do not fear, little flock, for it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom.» (Luke 12: 32).

« Fear not, for God has heard the voice of the lad where he is» (Genesis of 21: 17).

« But the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Do not fear therefore; you are of more value than many sparrows» (Matthew 10: 30, 31).

« Do not be afraid, Abram. I am your shield, your exceedingly great reward» (Genesis 15: 1).

 

Fear of Sickness
« You shall not be afraid of the terror by night,
         Nor of the arrow that flies by day, Nor of the pestilence that walks in darkness,
         nor of the destruction that lays waste at noonday. A thousand may fall at your side,
         and ten thousand at your right hand;
         but it shall not come near you. (Psalm 91: 5-7).

« Thus says the LORD who made you
      And formed you from the womb, who will help you:
      ‘Fear not, O Jacob My servant;
      And you, Jeshurun, whom I have chosen» (Isaiah 44: 2).

 

Fear of Pain
« Do not fear any of those things which you are about to suffer» (Revelation 2: 10).

« It is I; do not be afraid» (Mark 6: 50, John 6: 20).

 

Fear of Responsibilities
« And the LORD, He is the One who goes before you. He will be with you, He will not leave you nor forsake you; do not fear nor be dismayed» (Deuteronomy 31: 8).

« Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the LORD your God is with you wherever you go» (Joshua 1: 9).

« And he said, “O man greatly beloved, fear not! Peace be to you; be strong, yes, be strong!”   So when he spoke to me I was strengthened, and said, “Let my lord speak, for you have strengthened me» (Daniel 10: 19).

 

Fear of Accidents and Danger
« For there stood by me this night an angel of the God to whom I belong and whom I serve, saying, ‘Do not be afraid, Paul; you must be brought before Caesar; and indeed God has granted you all those who sail with you» (Acts 27: 23-24).

« But He said to them, “Why are you fearful, O you of little faith?” Then He arose and rebuked the winds and the sea, and there was a great calm» (Matthew 8: 26).
