Second practice: Submit to the Prophetic word
“Perfect Truth”

“Since you have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit” (1 Peter 1:22).

Frequently, God does not change our circumstances, but He uses His word as a medicine to our sufferings. Therefore, the psalmist in Psalm 107 says “Their soul abhorred all manner of food, and they drew near to the gates of death and they drew near to the gates of death. Then they cried out to the LORD in their trouble, and He saved them out of their distresses”. Then he mentions in the next verse a strange thing, he describes how He delivers them saying “He sent His word and healed them, and delivered them from their destructions.” (Psalm 107:18-20)

God’s word builds up, encourages, satisfies, and comforts, also it heals. God’s word is the water that cleanses our wounds. “Christ also loved the church and gave Himself for her, that He might sanctify and cleanse her with the washing of water by the word.” (Ephesians 5:25,26) Our medicine at the time of pain is not the precious blood only but also the absolute truth. God’s word treats our pains and wounds; it washes and cleanses our minds from the world’s thoughts and from Satan’s views and his interior bitter dialogues.

We have to deal precisely with what is written, if we looked to the verb in this verse, we will find it “cleanse” and not “hear the truth”. God’s word is not only to be heard but also to cleans us. It is our responsibility to get purified i.e. submit our minds to God’s word and allows it to change our thoughts and the way we think. The Bible speaks seven times about the individual responsibility regarding this matter. Yes, the cleansing fountain is there and God’s word is available everywhere, but some are out there who only hear it without making use out of it. We often ask God to comfort us and we often hear the word but we are not comforted or joyful for we did not obey God’s Divine order: “Cleanse.”
Brother, when you are thickened with wounds, go and cleanse it with the Perfect Word. Go to God’s word and let it first purify your mind and thoughts from the world’s beliefs and from all of Satan’s views.

Apostle Peter writes: purify your souls in obeying the truth; we purify ourselves with the word of truth but we also obey it; for that, he did not write: “purify your souls in hearing the truth”. Many times, we believe that the frequent attendance of meetings and repeating continuously the word of God; our wounds are healed. David speaks about God’s word saying: “Moreover by them your servant is warned, and in keeping them there is great reward.” (Psalm 19:11) and in here “keeping them” means “obeying them”.

My dear, we are not healed by only hearing or conserving God’s word, for the truth has no benefit if we only enjoyed hearing it and not obeying it.
Also the word of God has no effect or impact without God’s spirit. We are unable to purify ourselves without God’s spirit, for by nature, we tend towards rebellion. Therefore Apostle Peter continues saying “Purify your souls in obeying the truth through the spirit” for God’s Holy spirit is the one who guides us, leads us and helps us in obeying and cleansing.

Brother, remember that we don’t only hear God’s word, but we use it to purify ourselves. Also we obey it and not only just keep it. Remember that we are purified and that we obey the word of God through the Holy Spirit.
